The vision at Mercer Insurance Brokers is to have the customer experience as our foremost purpose. Being available, attentive and reliable will mean as our customer, you will always receive the highest level of service and from that longstanding relationships are formed.

Understanding your business

The cornerstone to our success is the offering to our customers that we will always work on a face to face basis. In an age of broker consolidation, outsourcing and remote client contact, we firmly believe that the only way to fully look after customers needs is to visit them at their premises. This is the only way to develop a precise understanding of you and your business, and ensures the important details of your insurance are met.

Darren Mercer

Mercer Insurance is owned by Darren Mercer BA (Hons). Darren has had 12 years’ experience in the insurance industry, firstly as a Company Underwriter for NIG and then as an Account Executive for an independent brokerage.

This led to an 8 year career working as a Business Executive for AXA Insurance, managing a significant and diverse book of Commercial businesses and being the first point of contact for all of their requirements.

Darren brought a customer central perspective to this role, which immediately gained customer trust and a foundation for building loyalty in the longer term. Coupled with his insurance experience and customer accessibility, this created the ideals that Mercer Insurance Brokers have at the heart of its customer journey.

Our Services

All types of insurance for all types of people

Business Interruption Insurance

Every trade or business requires financial protection in the event of loss or damage to your property.

When an insured loss, such as fire or flood causes your premises to be vacated for a period of time and production to cease, business outgoings such as utilities, wages or rent will still need to be paid without any income.

The loss of one day of work could represent significant losses to a small business, but a sustained level of downtime whilst the damaged property is rebuilt and stock, machinery and equipment are repaired or replaced, could have catastrophic consequences to the balance sheet.

Business interruption insurance allows you to recover your operations and remain financially viable in the event of a serious incident.

Every decision made by you as a company director or officer has consequences, both good and bad, for your customers, employees, and you personally. Even if you haven’t manufactured a faulty product, you could still be liable for it if you have sold it. Making a Claim

When you take out a policy that we have arranged, we will ensure you understand the process to follow in the event of a claim. Your policy documentation will also include additional information regarding what to do and who to call or contact in the event of a loss.

This must be your first port of call, to inform the relevant insurer, as soon as possible. You may find this to be particularly useful if you need to report a claim outside of business hours.

When you receive your policy documents:

  • Make sure you know what to do, in the event you need to make a claim.
  • Keep a note of your policy number with the claim information.
  • Consider giving copies to other people who may need access to that information.

If you need to make a claim:

  • Notify the claim to the insurer as soon as possible. Most policies will stipulate a time frame for doing so and the quicker notified, the quicker the insurer can start to rectify the loss.
  • If at all possible, have your policy documents to hand so you can answer any questions asked.
  • If for any reason you are not able to report the claim immediately, remember that you have a duty to take reasonable actions to mitigate the loss and prevent further damage.
